SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior defender Brandon Hurt (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) scored an unassisted goal at the 39:02 mark to lift Shepherd (1-2-0) to a 1-0 win over Pitt-Johnstown (1-3-0) in men's soccer action at Shepherd on Sunday afternoon. The win gave Shepherd head coach Ryan McDougall his first coaching victory.
Hurt lifted a shot from just past midfield past the UPJ keeper in the upper right-hand corner to give the Rams the win.
Junior netminder Billy Wood (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) recorded one save in a shutout effort for the Rams. Sage Parsley posted nine saves for the Mountain Cats.
Shepherd had a 16-5 advantage in shots and a 9-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Mercyhurst for a 1 p.m. contest.
