KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Shepherd University men's and women's cross country teams participated at the DII/DIII Challenge at Kutztown on Saturday. The Shepherd men's team finished 11th in a 13-team field, while the women's team had four competitors. Shippensburg won the men's competition and Seton Hill won the women's race.
The men were led by junior Stephen Rivera (Kearneysville, W.Va./Home Schooled) who finished 100th with a time of 31:18.6. He was followed by junior Daniel Burton (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) (101st, 31:37.1), freshman Noah Cupp (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) (115th, 33:31.1), freshman James Burdock (Stephenson, Va./James Wood) (118th, 33:51.8), freshman Jonathan Weller (Martinsburg, W.Va./Spring Mills) (122nd, 36:11.2), and junior Michael Gregg (Harpers Ferry, W.Va./Hedgesville) (127th, 41:13.8).
Freshman Janette Salvador (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) led the Rams as she finished 124th with a time of 30:27.9. She was followed by senior Mahayana Garcia (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson) (132nd, 32:08.4), junior Anna Berwanger (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) (143rd, 35:37.8), and sophomore Elizabeth Rea (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) (147th,39:52.1).
