Shippensburg Edges Shepherd Men’s Soccer

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. –  Shippensburg (1-2-2, 1-2-0 PSAC East ) jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for a 3-2 win over Shepherd (1-5-0, 0-2-0 PSAC East) in PSAC East men's soccer action at Shippensburg on Wednesday. 

The Raiders took a 2-0 lead into the break behind first half goals from Seth Crabbe and Avery Warrick. 

Owen Iacobelli opened the second half scoring for the Raiders when he scored on a pass from Crabbe at the 62:39 mark.

Shepherd got on the scoreboard at the 68:34 mark when senior forward Carlos Castillo (Cali, Columbia/Blue Ridge CC) scored on an assist from graduate student forward Andrew Tinna (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area/Northampton CC).

Shepherd added a goal at the 78:29 mark on an unassisted tally from senior midfielder Shamar Robinson (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mount Vernon). 

Sophomore netminder Billy Wood (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport)  recorded one save for the Rams. Cody Willoughby posted three saves for Shippensburg. 

Shippensburg had a 12-11 edge in shots while Shepherd had a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Corner kicks were even at six apiece. 

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Slippery Rock for a 1 p.m. contest.
