SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (12-1, 1-0 PSAC East) topped Shippensburg (5-8, 0-1 PSAC East) in PSAC East volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Friday night. The Rams recorded a 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 25-13 victory. Shepherd upped its win streak to 11 matches.
Junior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) had 12 kills and junior outside hitter Kiara Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) added 10 to pace the Rams.
Junior middle blocker Elyssia Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) and senior middle hitter Georgia Ohmke (Falls Church, Va./Justice) each had nine blocks, while Kitanna Rakestraw added eight.
Sophomore setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) added 37 assists. Redshirt-freshman defensive specialist/libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded a match-high 21 digs and sophomore outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) added 20. Senior outside hitter/defensive specialist Brooke Dunn (Manassas Park, Va./Manassas Park) had a match-high four aces.
Oyinda Agbale had a match-high 14 kills for the Raiders. Lily Letchworth added a double-double with 36 assists and 17 digs.
The Rams return to action next Friday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 7 p.m. match.
