SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Meghan Corridoni had a team-high 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds to lead Bloomsburg (8-7, 5-3 PSAC) to a 71-60 win over #24 Shepherd University (10-2, 4-2 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday night.
Junior guard Abby Beeman (Ridgeley, W.Va./Frankfort) had a game-high 22 points to pace the Rams. She connected on 9-of-19 field goals with a 4-of-8 effort from three-point range. She also dished out a game-high five assists.
Graduate student forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) added 15 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and a pair of blocked shots. Graduate student guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) chipped in with nine points and seven boards.
The Huskies had four starters in double figures as Katelin Starr had 13 points, Emma Saxton tossed in 12, while Megan Fisher added 11.
Shepherd had a 32-29 lead at the half behind 13 first-half points from Beeman.
Bloomsburg took the lead for good at 53-51 on a jumper by Saxton with 6:27 left in the game. The Rams later got to within a point at 56-55 after a layup by Clayton with 4:02 remaining but would get no closer.
Shepherd shot 40.3 percent (25-62) from the floor with a 33.3 percent effort (4-12) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 75 percent (6-8) of their free throws.
Bloomsburg hit on 50 percent (27-54) from the floor with a 33.3 percent effort (3-9) from three-point range for the game. The Huskies connected on 82.4 percent (14-17) of their free throws.
Bloomsburg had a 37-29 edge in rebounding. Shepherd forced 17 turnovers and committed 15. Shepherd recorded seven steals and Bloomsburg had six.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Lock Haven for a 1 p.m. contest.
