SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) had game highs of 24 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots to lead Shepherd University (7-8, 3-6 PSAC) to an 80-57 win over Mansfield (1-17, 0-12 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Monday night.
Daggett connected on 10-of-12 field goals and hit on 1-of-2 three pointers. He was 3-of-5 from the foul line. Daggett also dished out five assists.
Sophomore guard Jordan Gibson (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson/Presbyterian) added 14 points and freshman guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) had 12. Senior guard Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) contributed 11 points, a game-high six assists, and five boards.
Idris Ali and Jaz Farrell each had 10 points to lead the Mountaineers.
Shepherd had a 35-27 advantage at the break.
Shepherd connected on 58 percent (29-50) from the floor with a 50 percent (11-22) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 73.3 percent (11-15) of their free throws.
Mansfield shot 34.8 percent (22-60) from the floor with a 31.6 percent effort (6-19) from three-point range. The Mountaineers shot 71.4 percent (5-7) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 41-26 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced four turnovers and committed12. The Mountaineers had a 10-3 edge in steals.
The Rams are slated to return to action on Wednesday when they host East Stroudsburg at 7:30 p.m.
