Shepherd Men Fall to East Stroudsburg

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.  –  Justin Paz had 17 points and Carlos Pepin added 16 to lead East Stroudsburg (11-5, 9-3 PSAC) to a 77-61 win over Shepherd University (7-9, 3-7 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday night. 

Senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) had a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds to lead Shepherd. Daggett connected on 11-of-17 field goals and hit on 1-of-6 three-pointers.  

Senior guard Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) contributed 11 points, a game-high five assists, four boards, and a game-high three steals. Junior guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) added eight points and a game-high nine rebounds. 

The Warriors had four players score in double figures as Marc Rodriguez had 14 points and Troy Jones tossed in 13. 

The game was tied at halftime, 28-28. 

Shepherd connected on 40 percent (24-60) from the floor with a 17.9 percent (5-28) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 72.7 percent (8-11) of their free throws. 

East Stroudsburg shot 50.9 percent (29-57) from the floor with a 48.1 percent effort (13-27) from three-point range. The Warriors shot 75 percent (6-8) from the foul line. 

East Stroudsburg had a 37-29 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced 14 turnovers and committed 10. The Rams had a 9-5 advantage in steals.  

The Rams are slated to return to action on Saturday when they host Lock Haven at 3 p.m.
