Shepherd Men Defeat Lock Haven

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.  –  Senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) had game highs of 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead Shepherd University (8-9, 4-7 PSAC) to a 79-60 win over Lock Haven (6-12, 3-11 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.

Daggett connected on 12-of-19 field goals with a 1-of-2 effort from three-point range. He was 3-of-5 from the foul line. His 28-points tied a career-high effort. He posted his fifth double-double of the season. 

Junior guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) added a season-high 20 points as he was 6-of-7 from beyond the arc. His (.857) three-point shooting performance tied a Butcher Center record. 

Senior guard Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while sophomore guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) added 12 points, three boards, three steals, and three assists. 

DaQuan Granberry scored 15 points to lead the Bald Eagles. Jesse McPherson added 10 points. 

Shepherd had a 38-28 lead at halftime. 

Shepherd connected on 54.7 percent (29-53) from the floor with a 47.6 percent (10-21) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 64.7 percent (11-17) of their free throws. 

Lock Haven shot 40.4 percent (23-57) from the floor with a 31.6 percent effort (6-19) from three-point range. The Bald Eagles shot 72.7 percent (8-11) from the foul line. 

Shepherd had a 38-25 advantage in rebounding. Shepherd forced 14 turnovers and committed nine. The Rams had an 11-7 edge in steals.  

The Rams conclude a four-game homestand on Monday when they host West Chester at 7:30 p.m.
