SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Graduate student forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) scored a game and season-high 28 points to lead Shepherd University (15-3, 9-3 PSAC) to a 78-50 win over Lock Haven (8-10, 5-9 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
Clayton connected on 12-of-17 field goals with a 4-of-4 effort from the foul line. She also grabbed seven rebounds.
Junior guard Abby Beeman (Ridgeley, W.Va./Frankfort) added 15 points, six assists, and four rebounds. Graduate student guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) contributed 11 points and five boards.
Jackie Fetsko had nine points and eight rebounds to pace the Bald Eagles. Jaynelle Robinson grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
Shepherd had a 39-16 lead at halftime.
Shepherd shot 44.8 percent (30-67) from the floor with a 29.2 percent effort (7-24) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 73.3 percent (11-15) of their free throws.
Lock Haven hit on 26.5 percent (18-68) from the floor with a 14.8 percent effort (4-27) from three-point range for the game. The Bald Eagles connected on 62.5 percent (10-18) of their free throws.
Lock Haven had a 46-45 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced 17 turnovers and committed nine. The Rams had an 8-3 advantage in steals.
The Rams return to action on Monday when they host West Chester for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
