Shepherd Volleyball Downs Shippensburg

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (14-6, 6-2 PSAC East) swept Shippensburg (12-11, 4-4 PSAC East) in PSAC East volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Friday night. The Rams gained a 25-22, 26-24, 25-14 win to up their win streak to six matches. 

Senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) had 16 kills and seven digs to pace the Rams. Senior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) added seven kills, while sophomore middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) had six. 

Junior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) added 25 assists and seven digs, while sophomore middle hitter Renee Killough (Bloomery, W.Va./Hampshire) had a team-high five blocks. Redshirt-sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) contributed a match-high 13 digs. 

Rachel Verhoef had 10 kills and Oyinda Agbale added nine to lead the Raiders. Kearstin Davis added 30 assists and nine digs. 

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 7 p.m. match.
