Bittner Leads Shepherd Women’s Soccer Past East Stroudsburg

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –  Sophomore midfielder Delaney Bittner (York, Pa./Red Lion Area Senior) scored a pair of goals to lead Shepherd University (5-6-4, 4-6-3 PSAC East) to a 2-1 win over East Stroudsburg (8-3-2, 6-3-2 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday. 

Bittner opened the scoring at the 3:10 mark on an assist from senior forward/midfielder Sara Hohn (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson). 

Caitlin Nichols scored for East Stroudsburg at the 46:47 mark to tie the game. 

Bittner tallied the game-winner at the 72:33 mark to lift the Rams to victory. 

East Stroudsburg had a 26-5 advantage in shots with a 16-2 edge in shots on goal. The Warriors had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks. 

Sophomore Alayna Burgamy (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Pitt-Johnstown) recorded a career-high 15 saves in goal for the Rams. Emmy Clarkson did not record a save for the Warriors. 

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host West Chester for a 1 p.m. contest.
