SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (6-7-4, 5-7-3 PSAC East) recorded a 2-0 win over Mansfield (2-13-2, 0-13-2 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Shepherd on Senior Day on Saturday.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead at the 36-second mark on an unassisted tally by senior forward/midfielder Sara Hohn (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson).
The Rams added a goal at the 14:31 mark as sophomore midfielder Delaney Bittner (York, Pa./Red Lion Area Senior) scored on a pass from senior defender/midfielder Alyssa Nazarok (Northfield, N.J./Mainland).
Shepherd had a 20-2 advantage in shots with a 13-1 edge in shots on goal. The Rams had a 14-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore Alayna Burgamy (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Pitt-Johnstown) (84:56, 1 save) and junior goalkeeper Faith Leisinger (Keedysville, Md./Boonsboro) (5:04, 0 saves) combined on a shutout effort in goal for the Rams. Samantha Merklin recorded 11 saves for the Mountaineers.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Lock Haven for a 1 p.m. contest.
