LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Shepherd University (17-6, 9-2 PSAC East) downed Lock Haven (1-21, 1-10 PSAC East) in PSAC East volleyball action at Lock Haven on Friday evening. The Rams gained a 25-16, 20-25, 25-13, 25-13 victory to record their ninth straight win.
Senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) had 15 kills and nine digs to lead the Rams. Senior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) had 10 kills, while sophomore middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) had eight. Rakestraw and freshman middle hitter Jianna Scott (Bolivar, N.Y./Boiivar-Richmond) each contributed seven blocks
Junior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) added 31 assists and 12 digs. Redshirt-sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) posted 20 digs and three aces.
Gabriela Fialova had 10 kills and 10 digs to lead the Bald Eagles. Kelly Gaston added 30 assists and a pair of aces.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bloomsburg for a 1 p.m. match.
