SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Kania Pollock scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Lincoln (3-1) to a 73-62 win over Shepherd University (0-4) in women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore guard/forward Sydney Bolles (Elkview, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) paced the Rams with 17 points and eight rebounds. She connected on 7-of-11 field goals with a 3-of-4 effort from three-point range.
Sophomore guard Meghan Shipley (Middletown, Md./Middletown) added 15 points, four boards, and four assists, while senior forward Cara Minor (Hundred, W.Va./North Marion) had 14 points and five rebounds. Junior guard Kendal Haggerty (Frederick, Md./Urbana/CCBC) tossed in eight points and sophomore forward Neresha Miller (Landover, Md./DuVal/Alderson Broaddus) contributed five points and seven rebounds.
Kayiona Willis had 15 points and Anyssa Fields had 14 points and nine boards for the Lions.
Shepherd had a 33-32 lead at the break.
The game was tied at 48-all after three quarters.
Lincoln outscored Shepherd 25-14 in the final stanza to gain the win.
Shepherd shot 42.3 percent (22-52) from the floor with a 37.5 percent (9-24) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 64.3 percent (9-14) of their free throws.
Lincoln shot 36.5 percent (27-74) from the floor with a 22.7 percent effort (5-22) from three-point range. The Lions shot 70 percent (14-20) from the foul line.
Lincoln had a 47-35 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 15 turnovers and committed 26.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Virginia Union for a 2 p.m. contest.
