SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (19-6, 11-2 PSAC East) swept West Chester (20-9, 8-5 PSAC East) in PSAC East volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Senior Night on Friday night. The Rams gained a 25-13, 25-21, 25-19 victory to post their 11th consecutive win.
Senior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) had 10 kills with a .529 attack percentage, and senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) had 10 kills with a .435 attack percentage to lead the Rams. Sophomore middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) added eight kills.
Junior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) added 31 assists and 14 digs. Redshirt-sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded 15 digs and three aces.
Hailey Lewis had 10 kills and Brynn Dreisbach had nine to lead the Golden Rams. Jillian Borgerding added 17 assists, while Sydney Heffner had a team-high 11 digs.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Millersville for a 2 p.m. match.
