SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (20-6, 12-2 PSAC East) downed Millersville (16-13, 6-8 PSAC East) in four sets in PSAC East volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday. The Rams earned a 24-26, 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 win to post their 12th consecutive victory.
Sophomore middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) had 15 kills to pace the Rams. Senior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) and senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) each added nine kills.
Junior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) added 38 assists, eight blocks (one solo), and nine digs. Graduate student outside hitter Alex Farnsworth (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty) and redshirt-sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) each recorded 16 digs, while sophomore middle hitter Renee Killough (Bloomery, W.Va./Hampshire) contributed a match-high nine blocks.
Lauren Samko had 13 kills and Kylie Airesman added 12 to lead the Marauders. Emma Ludwig had 45 assists and Rebecca Dalstad had 20 digs.
Shepherd, the number one seed in the Eastern Division, will host West Chester on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in first-round action of the PSAC Tournament.
