Bagent Sets NCAA II Mark, Shepherd Football Downs East Stroudsburg to Claim PSAC Eastern Division Title

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. –  Senior quarterback Tyson Bagent (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) completed 32-of-40 passes for 400 yards and five touchdowns to lead #3/6 Shepherd (10-0, 7-0 PSAC East) to a 37-14 win over East Stroudsburg (4-6, 3-4 PSAC East) in PSAC East football action at East Stroudsburg on Saturday. Bagent's five touchdown passes on the day give him 151 for his career to pass the NCAA II career mark that was held by East Stroudsburg head coach Jimmy Terwilliger (East Stroudsburg - 148, 2003-06).

East Stroudsburg took a 7-0 lead on a 50-yard scoring pass from Jake Cirillo to Justin Cook with 1:34 left in the first quarter. 

The Warriors upped their lead to 14-0 on an eight-yard scoring run by Cirillo with12:34 left in the second quarter. 

Shepherd cut the lead to 14-7 when Bagent tossed a 26-yard touchdown pass to junior running back Ronnie Brown (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk) with 9:36 left in the second quarter. Shepherd's two-point pass attempt was unsuccessful. 

Bagent teamed with junior wide receiver Rodney Dorsey (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora/Towson) on a 40-yard score with 6:52 left in the half to cut the lead to 14-13 as redshirt-sophomore kicker Jacob Haynie (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) added the extra point. 

Bagent fired a 27-yard scoring strike to senior tight end Brian Walker (Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg) with 1:06 left in the first half to give the Rams a 20-14 lead. The touchdown pass gave Bagent 149 for his career to break the NCAA II career mark previously held by East Stroudsburg head coach Jimmy Terwilliger (East Stroudsburg, 2003-06). 

Bagent tossed a 47-yard scoring pass to junior wide receiver Alphonso Foray (Germantown, Md./Northwest/Lackawanna) with 9:33 left in the third quarter to give the Rams a 27-14 advantage. 

Bagent connected with junior wide receiver Marlon Cook (Forestville, Md./Potomac) on a four-yard scoring pass with 12:22 remaining in the third quarter to give the Rams a 34-14 lead. 

Haynie connected on a 23-yard field goal with 1:00 left in the game to complete the scoring. 

Cirillo completed 13-of-24 passes for 131 yards and a score for the Warriors. 

Brown rushed for 35 yards on 11 carries for the Rams. Tyriq Lewis had 10 carries for 39 yards to lead East Stroudsburg. 

Freshman wide receiver Cameron Dorner (New Market, Md./Oakdale) had eight receptions for 87 yards, Dorsey had seven catches for 70 yards, and Walker had five grabs for 99 yards to lead the Shepherd receivers. 

Shepherd had 460 yards of total offense while limiting East Stroudsburg to 221. 

Redshirt-freshman Enelio Pena (Moorestown, N.J./Woodrow Wilson/Camden CC) led the Shepherd defense with 10 tackles (five solos). Redshirt-sophomore Devon Lynch (Springfield, Va./Robert E. Lee) added seven stops (three solos) and junior linebacker Dewayne Grantham (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg/Lackawanna) had six tackles (two solos). Senior defensive end Kyle Smith (Sterling, Va./Dominion) posted five tackles (three solos) including a pair of sacks. Jahan Worth had 11 tackles to lead the Warriors. 

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Indiana (Pa.) for the PSAC Championship game. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
