CLARION, Pa. – Olivia Boocks scored a game-high 17 points to lead Clarion (2-7, 2-2 PSAC) to a 67-48 win over Shepherd University (0-9, 0-4 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at Clarion on Monday.
Sophomore guard/forward Sydney Bolles (Elkview, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) led the Rams with 14 points and nine rebounds. She connected on 6-of-12 field goals with a 2-of-3 effort from three-point range.
Freshman guard Peyton Grant (Plymouth, Maine/Dexter Regional) added 13 points, while sophomore guard Meghan Shipley (Middletown, Md./Middletown) had eight points and four steals. Senior forward Cara Minor (Hundred, W.Va./North Marion) tied Bolles for game-high rebounding honors with nine. Sophomore forwards Neresha Miller (Landover, Md./DuVal/Alderson Broaddus) added seven boards and six points.
Sierra Bermudez had 13 points and Ava Haddad added 10 for the Golden Eagles
Clarion had a 44-22 halftime lead.
Shepherd shot 27.9 percent (17-61) from the floor with a 21.4 percent (6-28) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit on 61.5 percent (8-13) of their free throws.
Clarion shot 41.3 percent (26-63) from the floor with a 50 percent effort (13-26) from three-point range. The Golden Eagles shot 33.3 percent (2-6) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 46-40 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced 14 turnovers and committed 19.
The Rams return to action on Dec. 30 when they host Pitt-Johnstown for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
