Shepherd Women Downed by Pitt-Johnstown

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –  Olivia Fasick scored a game-high 19 points to lead Pitt-Johnstown (7-4, 4-1 PSAC) to a 77-48 win over Shepherd University (0-10, 0-5 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Friday night.  

Junior guard Kendal Haggerty (Frederick, Md./Urbana/CCBC) scored 11 points to pace the Rams. She connected on 5-of-13 field goals with a 1-of-1 effort from the foul line. She added four rebounds and two steals. 

Sophomore guard Meghan Shipley (Middletown, Md./Middletown) added 10 points and Sophomore guard/forward Sydney Bolles (Elkview, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) tossed in nine.  

Hayden Taylor added 14 points and Makalyn Clapper had 13 for the Mountain Cats. Ashley Norling had 11 points, nine rebounds, and six rebounds. 

UPJ had a 35-21 lead at the break. 

Shepherd shot 33 percent (17-51) from the floor with a 7.1 percent (1-14) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit on 59.1 percent  (13-22) of their free throws. 

UPJ shot 50.9 percent (29-57) from the floor with a 48.3 percent effort (14-29) from three-point range. The Mountain Cats shot 83.3  percent (5-6) from the foul line. 

Pitt-Johnstown had a 33-31 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced 11 turnovers and committed 15. 

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Lock Haven for a 5:30 p.m. game.
