SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Rylie Derr scored 17 points and Abbey Hearn added 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead #21 Kutztown (20-5, 13-3 PSAC) to a 68-59 win over Shepherd University (18-5, 12-5 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
Graduate student forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) had 14 points and seven rebounds to lead the Rams.
Senior guard Madi White (Hamilton, Va./Woodgrove) had 12 points and seven boards, while graduate student guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) tossed in 12 points. Junior guard Abby Beeman (Ridgeley, W.Va./Frankfort) added game highs of seven steals and five assists.
Casey Remolde added nine points for the Golden Bears.
Kutztown had a 33-20 lead at the half.
Shepherd shot 30.4 percent (21-69) from the floor with a 29.2 percent effort (7-24) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 83.3 percent (10-12) of their free throws.
Kutztown hit on 56.4 percent (22-39) from the floor with a 52.9 percent effort (9-17) from three-point range for the game. The Golden Bears connected on 83.3 percent (15-18) of their free throws.
Kutztown had a 37-30 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced 30 turnovers and committed 13. Shepherd had a 15-3 edge in steals.
The Rams return to action on Monday when they travel to Lock Haven for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
