LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Brooke Lawyer scored a game-high 19 points to lead Lock Haven (11-12, 8-11 PSAC) to a 56-55 win over Shepherd University (18-6, 12-6 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at Lock Haven on Monday night.
Junior guard Abby Beeman (Ridgeley, W.Va./Frankfort) had 17 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists to lead the Rams.
Graduate student guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) added 16 points, while graduate student forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) had 12 points, eight rebounds, and a pair of blocked shots.
Ahnera Parker added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Bald Eagles. Jaynell Robinson grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds.
Shepherd had a 29-21 lead at halftime behind 12 first-half points from McLaughlin.
Clayton hit a pair of free throws with 49 seconds left to give the Rams a 55-54 lead. Parker hit a layup with 26 seconds left to lift Lock Haven to the win.
Shepherd shot 35.9 percent (23-64) from the floor with a 29.2 percent effort (7-24) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 33.3 percent (2-6) of their free throws.
Lock Haven hit on 37.5 percent (24-69) from the floor with a 23.8 percent effort (5-21) from three-point range for the game. The Bald Eagles connected on 37.5 percent (3-8) of their free throws.
Lock Haven dominated the boards with a 51-34 advantage. Shepherd forced 23 turnovers and committed 17. Each team had 14 steals.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Millersville at 5:30 p.m.
