SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) scored a game-high 24 points to lead Shepherd University (12-14, 8-12 PSAC) to an 88-76 win over Bloomsburg (5-20, 4-17 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Monday night. The Rams honored senior guard Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman), senior forward Noah Wimbish (Fairdale, W.Va./Massanutten Military Academy), and Daggett with a Senior Night ceremony prior to tip-off.
Daggett added seven rebounds. He connected on 10-of-16 field goals with a 1-of-5 effort from beyond the arc. He was 3-of-3 from the foul line.
Sophomore guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) added 19 points. Stephens contributed 15 points and a game-high nine assists, while junior guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) added 12 points and seven boards.
The Rams had a 46-34 lead at halftime.
Justin Anderson had 21 points to pace the Huskies.
Shepherd led by as many as 22 points in the second half but the lead dwindled to nine points at 83-74 when Cam Villarouel hit a pair of free throws with 1:22 left. Wimbish hit a three-pointer that keyed a 5-2 run to close the game for the Rams.
Shepherd connected on 58.9 percent (33-56) from the floor with a 50 percent (12-24) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 62.5 percent (10-16) of their free throws.
Bloomsburg shot 58.5 percent (31-53) from the floor with a 33.3 percent effort (5-15) from three-point range. The Huskies shot 81.8 percent (9-11) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 26-23 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced eight turnovers and committed four.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Shippensburg for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
