SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior guard Abby Beeman (Ridgeley, W.Va./Frankfort) scored a game-high 28 points to lead Shepherd University (21-6, 15-6 PSAC) to a 79-73 win over Shippensburg (16-11, 12-9 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday night for Senior Night.
Beeman hit on 10-of-22 field goals with a 3-of-9 effort from three-point range. She was 5-of-5 from the foul line. She also recorded game-highs of six assists and seven steals.
Graduate student forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) posted her ninth double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Graduate student guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) added a 19-point effort
Destiny Jefferson scored 22 points and Aunbrielle Green added 20 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Shippensburg had a 34-31 lead at the break.
Shepherd shot 39.4 percent (28-71) from the floor with a 31.3 percent effort (5-16) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 75 percent (18-24) of their free throws.
Shippensburg hit on 52 percent (26-50) from the floor with a 22.2 percent effort (2-9) from three-point range for the game. The Raiders connected on 73.1 percent (19-26) of their free throws.
Shippensburg had a 38-35 edge on the boards. Shepherd forced 23 turnovers and committed 13.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Mansfield for a 1 p.m. contest for the regular season finale.
