WILMINGTON, Del. – Ella Batnes, Maddie Day, and Campbell Heller each had three goals to lead Wilmington (Del.) (5-0) to a 13-11 win over Shepherd (2-2) in women's lacrosse action at Wilmington on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore attack Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep) and sophomore midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) each had four goals to pace the Rams.
Senior attack Katherine Campbell (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill), Senior midfielder/defender Paige Alexander (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) each recorded a goal and an assist. Sophomore midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) added a goal.
Wilmington had a 7-6 lead at halftime.
Senior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) (5) and sophomore goalkeeper Ellie Glawe (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) (3) combined for eight saves for the Rams. Tori Grubowski (6) and Katie Vindigni (7) totaled 13 saves for Wilmington.
Wilmington had a 33-32 edge in shots. The Wildcats were 19-of-26 in clears, while Shepherd was 17-of-22. Wilmington had a 24-18 edge in ground balls.
The Rams return to action on March 16 when they travel to Bloomsburg for a 2 p.m. contest.
