Millersville Downs Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Gillian Zimmerman scored four goals, while Amanda Juliano and Grace Cobaugh each added three to lead Millersville (11-5, 7-4 PSAC East) to a 15-11 win over Shepherd University (4-11, 2-9 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Wednesday. 

Senior midfielder Maddison Young (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) scored four goals to lead the Rams. Sophomore midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) added two goals and a pair of assists, while senior midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century) tallied a pair of goals. 

Senior attacker Katherine Campbell (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) recorded a goal and an assist, while sophomore attacker Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep) and senior midfielder/defender Paige Alexander (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) each netted a goal. Lassahn added a match-high seven draw controls.

Millersville led by as many as seven goals in the first half and took a 10-6 lead into the break. 

Shepherd scored three straight goals to cut the lead to 13-10 after a goal by Young with 11:06 left in the contest. Millersville closed the game on a 2-1 run to gain the win. 

Senior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded eight saves for the Rams. Morgan Scott posted 15 saves for the Marauders.

Shepherd had a 33-26 edge in shots with a 26-23 advantage in shots on goal. Shepherd was 14-of-19 in clears while Millersville was 20-of-23. The Rams had an 18-11 edge in draw controls, while Millersville had a 21-19 advantage in ground balls. 

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Kutztown at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
