CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Shepherd University (8-3) dropped a 3-1 decision to California (Pa.) (6-3)  in volleyball action at Cal on Saturday. The Vulcans gained a 25-23, 15-25, 25-14. 25-18 win. 

Senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) had 15 kills and 10 digs to pace the Rams. Senior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) added 10 kills. 

Junior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) contributed 23 assists, while sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded 12 digs. 

Allie Droneberger had 14 kills and Kaylin Burkey added 11 to lead Cal. Emily Buwawa  had 12 digs and Tayla Pascoe added 10. 

The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host Fairmont State for a 6 p.m. match.
