LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Shepherd University (6-0) handed Queens (NY) College (2-4) a 3-0 setback in volleyball action at the Georgian Court Invitational on Friday night. The Rams recorded a 25-9, 25-19, 25-23 victory.
Senior outside hitter Kiara Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) had seven kills and three aces to lead the Rams. Senior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) and freshman outside hitter Molly Grimm (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) each contributed five kills.
Junior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) had 13 assists and freshman setter Mya Lewis (North East, Md./St. Mark's {Del.}) added 11. Sophomore middle hitter Renee Killough (Bloomery, W.Va/Hampshire) posted a match-high six blocks, while freshman setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colo./Chaparral) had a team-high five digs.
Alexis Deodat had eight kills to lead Queens. Ryann Frontera added a match-high 13 digs.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they take on host Georgian Court at noon and The College of Saint Rose at 2 p.m. in final day action of the Georgian Court Invitational.
