LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Shepherd University (8-0) won a pair of matches in final day volleyball action at the Georgian Court Invitational on Saturday. The Rams recorded a 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-20) win over Georgian Court (1-5) in an early match and added a 3-1 (25-12, 25-17, 21-25, 25-13) win over The College of Saint Rose(4-3) in a later contest.
Senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) posted a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs against Georgian Court.
Sophomore middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) had eight kills, while sophomore middle hitter Renee Killough (Bloomery, W.Va/Hampshire) had seven kills, seven blocks, and three aces. Freshman setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colo./Chaparral) contributed 25 assists and eight digs.
Nylene Mateo had 21 kills for Georgian Court. Iclar Zayas added 34 assists and nine digs.
Hoy had 16 kills and 17 digs to lead the Rams past Saint Rose.
Senior outside hitter Kiara Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) added 11 kills, while Killough had 10 kills and four blocks. Redshirt-sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) had 12 digs and three aces, while Buso posted 41 assists.
Karleigh Frupp and Julia Cavalcanti each had seven kills to lead Saint Rose. Joanna Forrest added four kills and nine digs.
Ellis, Hoy, and Killough represented the Rams on the All-Tournament Team
The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host Indiana (Pa.) for a 7 p.m. match at the Butcher Center.
