SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (9-6, 1-2 PSAC East) recorded a 3-0 win over Kutztown (7-7, 1-2 PSAC East) in PSAC East volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday. The Rams gained a 25-12, 25-13, 25-15 win.
Sophomore middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) led the Rams with 10 kills. Senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) and senior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) each added seven kills.
Junior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) contributed 29 assists and four blocks, while redshirt-sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded 10 digs. Freshman middle blocker Riley Moreno (Elburn, Ill./St. Charles North) and sophomore middle hitter Renee Killough (Bloomery, W.Va./Hampshire) each had five blocks.
Sadie Doss had 11 kills to lead the Golden Bears. Lexi Morrow added 18 assists and six digs.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to West Chester for a 7 p.m. match.
