WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Shepherd University (10-6, 2-2 PSAC East) handed West Chester (13-3, 3-1 PSAC East) a four-set loss in PSAC East volleyball action at West Chester on Friday night. The Rams gained a 25-12, 25-16, 21-25, 25-18 win to give West Chester its first conference loss.
Senior outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) had 13 kills, six digs, and six aces to pace the Rams. Sophomore middle blocker Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) and sophomore middle hitter Renee Killough (Bloomery, W.Va./Hampshire) added 12 kills. Killough added six kills and three digs, while Fairweather added four blocks and three digs.
Junior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) contributed 31 assists and four blocks, while redshirt-sophomore libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded 10 digs and four aces. Freshman middle blocker Riley Moreno (Elburn, Ill./St. Charles North) tied Killough with a match-high six blocks.
Hailey Lewis and Tori Wright each had 11 kills to lead the Golden Rams. Jamie Byrne added 39 assists and seven digs.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Millersville for a 2 p.m. match.
