SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Ryan Weise scored a game-high 30 points and added six assists to lead East Stroudsburg (9-7, 5-5 PSAC) to 69-54 in over Shepherd University (0-15, 0-10 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday.
Senior forward Cara Minor (Hundred, W.Va./North Marion) led the Rams with16 points and seven boards. She connected on 5-of-14 field goals with a 4-of-9 effort from three-point range. Minor hit 2-of-4 free throws.
Junior guard Madison Mertz (Maugansville, Md./North Hagerstown) added eight points and five rebounds. Sophomore guard/forward Sydney Bolles (Elkview, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) and sophomore forward Neresha Miller (Landover, Md./DuVal/Alderson Broaddus) tied Minor for game-high rebounding honors with seven boards.
Izzy Vogel added 10 points and five rebounds for the Warriors.
East Stroudsburg had a 33-24 lead at halftime.
Shepherd trailed by just five points at 52-47 with 6:47 left in the game after Shipley connected on 1-of-2 free throws. The Warriors went on a 10-0 run to pull away for the win.
Shepherd shot 25.9 percent (15-58) from the floor with a 36.8 percent (7-19) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 65.4 percent (17-26) of their free throws.
East Stroudsburg shot 42.4 percent (25-59) from the floor with a 29.2 percent effort (7-24) from three-point range. The Warriors shot 63.2 percent (12-19) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 47-37 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced nine turnovers and committed 18.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Mansfield for a 1 p.m. contest.
