SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Marin Miller scored 13 of her game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter to lead Millersville (8-5, 3-4 PSAC) to a 69-56 win over Shepherd University (0-12, 0-7 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday
Sophomore guard Meghan Shipley (Middletown, Md./Middletown) led the Rams with 14 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two assists. She was 7-of-13 from the floor.
Junior guard Kendal Haggerty (Frederick, Md./Urbana/CCBC) added 13 points, while junior guard Madison Mertz (Maugansville, Md./North Hagerstown) and sophomore guard Jordan Carr (Charles Town, W.Va./Jefferson) each had nine points.
Sophomore forward Neresha Miller (Landover, Md./DuVal/Alderson Broaddus) tied Shipley with team-high efforts of six rebounds and three steals.
Bria Beverly added 15 points and seven rebounds, while Jabria Ingram had 12 points and six boards for the Marauders.
Millersville had a 27-23 lead at halftime.
The Marauders took the lead for good at 43-40 on a three-pointer by Ingram with 14 seconds left in the third quarter. Shepherd was within three points at 51-48 after a layup by Haggerty with 5:29 left in regulation but would get no closer.
Shepherd shot 38.2 percent (21-55) from the floor with a 13.3 percent (2-15) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit on 60 percent (12-20) of their free throws.
Millersville shot 39.2 percent (20-51) from the floor with a 35.7 percent effort (5-14) from three-point range. The Marauders shot 66.7 percent (24-36) from the foul line.
Millersville had a 42-31 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced 24 turnovers and committed 23.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Mercyhurst for an 11:30 a.m. contest.
