SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore midfielder Josie Beezel (Woodsboro, Md./Linganore) scored a pair of second half goals to lift Shepherd University (4-4-5, 2-4-5 PSAC East) to a 2-0 win over Millersville (4-6-3, 4-6-2 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead when Beezel scored on a pass from graduate student forward/midfielder Sara Hohn (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) at the 67:50 mark.
Beezel added another tally on a feed from freshman midfielder Annabelle Wunderlich (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) at the 80:51 mark.
Junior goalkeeper Alayna Burgamy (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Pitt-Johnstown) recorded five saves for the Rams. Bella Fiorenza had six saves for the Marauders.
Shepherd had a 24-11 edge in shots with a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Rams had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to seventh-ranked Kutztown for a noon contest.
