Shepherd Football Tops West Chester

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –  Junior quarterback Seth Morgan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon/VMI) completed 15-of-21 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns, while redshirt-junior running back Malakai Brown (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) (11 carries for 159 yards) and redshirt-freshman running back Jordan Barnett (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge/Southern Utah) (13 carries for 106 yards) each rushed for over 100 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns to lead Shepherd (7-1, 4-1 PSAC East) to a 59-21 win over West Chester (4-4, 2-3 PSAC East) in PSAC East football action at Ram Stadium on Saturday. 

Sophomore kicker James Bozek (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) connected on a 29-yard field goal with 9:05 left in the first quarter to give the Rams. 3-0 lead. 

West Chester got a seven-yard scoring run from Dayshawn Jacobs to take a 7-3 lead with 2:42 left in the first quarter. 

Morgan teamed with junior wide receiver Jeremiah Taylor (Upper Marlboro, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School/Fairmont State) on a 37-yard scoring strike with six seconds left in the first quarter to give the Rams a 10-7 lead. 

The Rams added three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 31-7 lead at the break. 

Barnett scored on a four-yard run with 7:14 left, Brown scored on a two-yard plunge with 2:42 left, and Morgan teamed with freshman wide receiver Kordell Batten (Waldorf, Md./St. Charles) with 15 seconds left in the half. 

Brown opened up the second half scoring with a 74-yard scoring jaunt with 14:40 left in the third quarter. \

Barnett scored on a 41-yard sprint with 8:42 left in the third quarter to up the lead to 45-14.

West Chester got a pair of touchdown passes from T.J. Perine to Robby Longo and Shepherd got a score from junior wide receiver Ethon Williams (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) on a muffed punt return and redshirt-freshman quarterback Sammy Roberts (Shenandoah Junction, W.Va./Jefferson) lofted a 13-yard scoring pass to freshman wide receiver Gabe Bigbee (Nokesville, Va./Patriot) to complete the scoring. 

Shepherd had 533 yards of total offense while West Chester totaled 318. 

Cooper Jordan connected on 12-of-23 passes for 120 yards for the Golden Rams. Perine was 6-of-12 for 73 yards and a pair of scores. 

Daquan Robinson had eight carries for 69 yards for West Chester. 

Taylor had five catches for 106 yards to lead the Shepherd receivers. Jacobs had five receptions for 38 yards for West Chester. 

Shepherd forced four turnovers and committed just one. 

Junior linebacker Harold O'Neal (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) led the Rams with six tackles (three solos). Ricardo Delgado (7 solos) and Jaleel Davis-Shabazz (6 solos) each recorded nine tackles for the Golden Rams. 

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bloomsburg for a 2 p.m. contest.
