Shepherd Women’s Soccer Blanks Mansfield

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Three different players scored goals to lead Shepherd University (5-5-5, 3-5-5 PSAC East) to a 3-0 win over Mansfield (3-11-2, 2-10-2 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action on Senior Day at Shepherd on Wednesday. 

Shepherd took a 1-0 lead into the break as freshman midfielder Taylor Schuck (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) scored on a header off a pass from junior forward/defender Sofia Carrera (New Market, Md./Oakdale) at the 43:43 mark. 

The Rams added a pair of second-half goals. 

Sophomore midfielder Josie Beezel (Woodsboro, Md./Linganore) scored on a pass from sophomore forward Lydia Gable (Felton, Pa./Kennard Dale) at the 48:42 mark and graduate student forward/midfielder Sara Hohn (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) completed the scoring on a feed from freshman midfielder Annabelle Wunderlich (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) at the 84:46 mark. 

Junior goalkeeper Alayna Burgamy (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Pitt-Johnstown) recorded one save for the Rams. Samantha Merklin posted 12 saves for the Mounties 

Shepherd had a 33-3 edge in shots with a 15-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Rams had a 7-1 edge in corner kicks. 

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Lock Haven for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
