SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore forward Lydia Gable (Felton, Pa./Kennard Dale) scored a pair of goals to lead Shepherd University (7-5-5, 5-5-5 PSAC East) to a 4-1 win over Shippensburg (4-13-0, 4-11-0 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Shippensburg on Tuesday.
Gable scored on a pass from graduate student forward/midfielder Sara Hohn (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) at the 6:58 mark to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
Shippensburg tied the game when Gabrielle Walker scored on a pass from Jenna Folmar at the 18:54 mark to tie the game at 1-1.
Shepherd scored three second-half goals to pull away for the win.
Hohn scored on a penalty kick at the 45:24 mark, the Rams got an own goal at the 61:24 mark, and Gable scored on a feed from sophomore midfielder Josie Beezel (Woodsboro, Md./Linganore) at the 76:34 mark.
Junior goalkeeper Alayna Burgamy (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Pitt-Johnstown) recorded one save for the Rams. Kendra Barlow posted eight saves for the Raiders.
Shepherd had a 23-9 advantage in shots with an 11-2 edge in shots on goal. The Rams also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they host West Chester for a 2 p.m. contest.
