SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (2-5-1) battled to a 1-1 tie with Slippery Rock (2-3-4) in men's soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday.
Slippery Rock took a 1-0 lead into the break as Arturo Pia Hernandis scored on a pass from Luke Gildea at the 9:05 mark.
Shepherd tied the game when sophomore forward Sterling Harris (Cheltenham, Md./Bishop McNamara) scored at the 72:47 mark on a pass from senior defender/midfielder Conner Brown (Martinsburg, W.Va./St. Maria Goretti/Averett).
Senior goalkeeper Christian Blazes (Hagerstown, Md./Heritage Academy) recorded seven saves for the Rams. Adam Davies posted six saves for Slippery Rock.
Shepherd had a 15-12 advantage in shots with Slippery Rock holding an 8-7 edge in shots on goal. The Rock had a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Millersville for a 1 p.m. contest.
