WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Shepherd University (3-3-4, 1-3-4 PSAC East) dropped a 2-1 decision to West Chester (6-2-1, 6-2-0 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at West Chester on Wednesday.
The Golden Rams took a 1-0 lead when Alyson Cutter scored on a pass from Victoria Pungello at the 27:51 mark.
Shepherd opened up the second half scoring when sophomore forward Lydia Gable (Felton, Pa./Kennard Dale) on a feed from freshman midfielder Annabelle Wunderlich (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) at the 75:42 mark.
West Chester scored the game-winner less than a minute later when Pungello scored on a pass from Cutter at the 76:21 mark.
Junior goalkeeper Alayna Burgamy (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson/Pitt-Johnstown) recorded 11 saves for the Rams. Grace Keen had seven saves for the Golden Rams.
West Chester had a 26-14 edge in shots and a 13-7 advantage in shots on goal. Shepherd had a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bloomsburg for a noon contest.
