Shepherd Football Tops Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –  Junior quarterback Seth Morgan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon/VMI) completed 25-of-36 passes for 301 yards and a pair of scores to lead Shepherd (5-1, 2-1 PSAC East) to a 27-10 win over Lock Haven (3-3, 1-2 PSAC East) in football action at Lock Haven on Saturday. 

Lock Haven took a 3-0 lead on the opening drive as Brent Zachman connected on a 32-yard field goal with 9:04 left in the first quarter. 

Shepherd answered back with a 25-yard field goal from sophomore kicker James Bozek (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) to tie the game at 3-3 with 1:00 left in the first quarter. 

The Rams took a 10-3 lead when junior quarterback Seth Morgan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon/VMI) teamed with junior wide receiver Barry Hill (Highland Springs, Va./Varina/West Virginia State) on a 53-yard scoring pass with 11:12 left in the second quarter. 

Shepherd took a 17-3 lead into the break as redshirt-freshman running back Jordan Barnett (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge/Southern Utah) scored on a one-yard plunge with 1:23 left in the half. 

Morgan teamed with junior wide receiver Jeremiah Taylor (Upper Marlboro, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School/Fairmont State) on a four-yard scoring toss with 12:06 left in the third quarter to give the Rams a 24-3 advantage. 

Chandler Baker returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards for a score for the Bald Eagles to cut the lead to 24-10. 

Bozek connected on a 36-yard field goal with 7:10 left in the game to complete the scoring. 

Shepherd totaled 388 yards of total offense while Lock Haven had 269.  

Danny Sanchez connected on 13-of-23 for 117 yards for the Bald Eagles.

Redshirt-junior running back Malakai Brown (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg)  had 13 carries for a game-high 67 yards for the Rams. Collier had 15 carries for 62 yards to pace the Bald Eagles. 

Hill had eight receptions for 18 yards to lead the Shepherd receivers. Taylor added seven grabs for 104 yards. Baker had five catches for 61 yards to lead Lock Haven. 

Senior linebacker Dewayne Grantham (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg/Lackawanna) led the Rams with eight tackles (five solos). Cody Romano led the Bald Eagles with 13 stops (10 solos). 

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Millersville for a 2 p.m. game.
