SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (14-13, 9-4 PSAC East) swept Kutztown (10-16, 3-10 PSAC East) on Senior Night in PSAC East volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Friday night. The Rams recorded a 25-22, 25-15, 25-23 win.
Freshman outside hitter Jordan Pryor (Middletown, Md./Middletown) had match-high efforts of 12 kills and 18 digs to pace the Rams. Freshman outside hitter Amya Davis (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) added eight kills, while junior middle blocker/right side Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) had seven kills and seven digs.
Junior middle hitter Renee Killough (Bloomery, W.Va./Hampshire) had six kills and five blocks, while sophomore middle hitter Jianna Scott (Bolivar, N.Y./Bolivar-Richburg) posted a match-high seven blocks (two solos). Senior setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) recorded 31 assists, six digs, and five blocks. Senior libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) added 13 digs and two aces.
Gabriela Fialova had 11 kills and 11 digs to lead the Golden Bears. Sadie Doss added eight kills and 11 digs.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host East Stroudsburg for a 4 p.m. match.
Notes: Shepherd honored seniors Claire Ellis and Victoria Nicholes in a pregame ceremony for Senior Night … the Rams extended their winning streak to four matches.
