Shepherd Men Fall to Seton Hill

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Seton Hill (4-1, 1-0 PSAC) outscored Shepherd, 36-26, in the second half to rally for a 72-66 win over Shepherd (3-3, 0-1 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Friday. 

Senior guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) scored a game-high 20 points to pace the Rams. He connected on 7-of-9 field goals with a 3-of-4 effort from three-point range. He drained 3-of-4 foul shots. Jordan added a game-high six assists and a team-high seven rebounds. 

Senior guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) added 18 points while freshman guard Michael Cooper (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) tossed in nine.                                                                   

Ryan Meis scored 17 points to lead the Griffins. Jimmy Moon added 11 points, while Kedrick Curtis added 10.  

Shepherd had a 40-36 lead at the break. 

The Rams saw a 10-point lead second half lead vanish. Seton Hill took the lead for good at 65-62 on a three-pointer by James Rice with 5:22 left in the game. The Griffins closed the game on a 7-4 run to secure the win.

Shepherd connected on 48 percent (24-50) of its field goals with a 50 percent (10-20) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 66.7 percent (8-12) of their free throws. 

Seton Hill shot 47.2 percent (25-53) from the floor with a 40.9 percent (9-22) effort from beyond the arc. The Griffins hit 68.4 percent (13-19) of their free throws. 

Seton Hill had a 32-28 edge on the boards. The Rams forced 11 turnovers and committed 15. 

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host California (Pa.) for a 3 p.m. game.
