EDINBORO, Pa. – Hope Garrity scored a game-high 20 points to lead Edinboro (5-4, 3-1 PSAC) to a 94-39 win over Shepherd University (3-6, 1-3 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at Edinboro on Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman guard Kara Wehner (Staten Island, NY/Xaverian) scored a team-high 12 points to pace the Rams. Wehner hit on 6-of-10 field goals. She also tied sophomore guard Peyton Grant (Plymouth, Maine/Dexter Regional) with a team-high three assists.
Freshman forward Carmaya Bowman (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) added eight points and a team-high six rebounds. Junior guard/forward Sydney Bolles (Elkview, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) contributed eight points and three boards.
Hayley Sims added 16 points and Ashten Boggs had 10 for the Fighting Scots.
Edinboro opened the game on a 20-2 run and took a 43-22 lead into the break.
Shepherd shot 29.4 percent (15-51) from the floor with a 22.2 percent (4-18) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 83.3 percent (5-6) of their free throws.
Edinboro shot 49.3 percent (36-73) from the floor with a 40 percent (12-30) effort from three-point range. The Fighting Scots shot 90.9 percent (10-11) from the foul line.
Edinboro had a 45-28 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced five turnovers and committed 20.
The Rams are idle until Dec. 30 when they host Mercyhurst for a 1 p.m. contest.
