EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Ryan Weise had 20 points and five assists to lead East Stroudsburg (15-12, 11-10 PSAC) to a 58-41 win over Shepherd University (1-24, 1-19 PSAC) in PSAC women's basketball action at East Stroudsburg on Saturday.
Junior guard Kendal Haggerty (Frederick, Md./Urbana/CCBC) and sophomore guard Meghan Shipley (Middletown, Md./Middletown) each had nine points to lead the Rams. Haggerty also recorded five boards, two steals, and a block. Shipley added a team-high three assists and two rebounds.
Junior guard Madison Mertz (Maugansville, Md./North Hagerstown) added seven points. Sophomore forward Neresha Miller (Landover, Md./DuVal/Alderson Broaddus) had six points and five boards, while sophomore guard/forward Sydney Bolles (Elkview, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Izzy Vogel had nine points, while Shyla Sanford added 10 rebounds and six steals for the Warriors.
East Stroudsburg had a 29-19 lead at the break.
Shepherd shot 26.7 percent (12-45) from the floor with an 18.8 percent (3-16) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit on 63.6 percent (14-22) of their free throws.
East Stroudsburg shot 33.3 percent (22-66) from the floor with a 36 percent (9-25) effort from three-point range. The Warriors shot 50 percent (5-10) from the foul line.
East Stroudsburg had a 47-35 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced 13 turnovers and committed 21.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Shippensburg for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
