#3 West Chester Downs Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Meg O'Donnell scored four goals and Lindsay Monigle had three goals and five assists to lead third-ranked West Chester (1-0, 1-0 PSAC East) to a 20-9 win over Shepherd University (1-1, 0-1 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Tuesday. 

Sophomore Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) recorded three goals and an assist to lead the Rams. 

Junior midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) added two goals and an assist, while junior midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and sophomore attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) each netted a pair of goals. Sophomore attacker Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep) contributed an assist. 

Hannah Stanislawczyck and Keri Barnett each added three goals for the Golden Rams.            

Senior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded 14 saves for the Rams. Jessica Gorr posted eight saves for the Golden Rams. 

Shepherd had a 4-3 lead at the end of one quarter, but West Chester outscored Shepherd, 9-2, in the second quarter to take a 12-6 advantage at the break. 

West Chester had a 39-21 edge in shots with a 34-17 advantage in shots on goal. Shepherd was 19-of-23 in clears while West Chester was 18-of-19. The Golden Rams had a 21-11 edge in draw controls and a 23-19 advantage in ground balls. 

The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Wilmington (Del.) at 2 p.m. at Ram Stadium. 

Notes: Paige Stoner had five draw controls to reach 100 for her career … Sam Lassahn had three draw controls to go over 100 (101) for her career … Katie Paredes has scored three goals in both of Shepherd's games this season.
