Shepherd Men Edged at Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Jayy Davis scored 17 points to lead Lock Haven (13-8, 10-5 PSAC) to a 64-58 win over Shepherd (11-11, 8-8 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Lock Haven on Saturday. 

Junior guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) led the Rams with a season and game-high 21 points. Jordan connected on 8-of-17 field goals with a 5-of-7 effort from three-point range. He added a game-high five assists. 

Senior guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) added 10 points and five boards, while sophomore guard Aidan Hughley (York, Pa./York Suburban) contributed nine points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) had six points and a team-high seven boards. 

Jalen Gorham added 13 points for the Bald Eagles. James Price contributed nine points and nine rebounds. 

The game was tied at halftime, 27-27.  

Trailing by as many as 10 points in the second half, Shepherd rallied to within a point at 59-58 with 1:38 remaining after a three-pointer by Jordan. Lock Haven closed the game on a 5-0 run to seal the win. 

Shepherd connected on 40.7 percent (22-54) of its field goals with a 32.5 percent (11-31) performance from three-point range. The Rams drained 30 percent (3-10) of their free throws. 

Lock Haven shot 40.7 percent (22-54) from the floor with a 40 percent (8-20) effort from beyond the arc. The Bald Eagles hit on 63.2 percent (12-19) of their free throws. 

Lock Haven had a 36-34 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced nine turnovers and committed 13. 

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Mansfield for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
