SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) scored a career-high four goals and junior midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) added three to lead Shepherd University (2-2) to a 12-7 win over Lock Haven (0-2) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Wednesday.
Freshman attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century) added a pair of goals while junior attacker Shanna Dextradeur (Middletown, Md./Middletown) had a goal and a pair of assists.
Junior attacker Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep) and freshman attacker Rebekah Forney (Walkersville, Md./Mount De Sales) each tallied a goal.
Sophomore midfielder Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora), junior midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), and King each had an assist. Stoner had a team-best four draw controls.
Sophomore defender Sydney Witmer (Damascus, Md./Damascus) led the defensive effort with six ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Casey Hibbard scored a pair of goals to lead the Bald Eagles. Abby Katrinak added a goal and an assist.
Shepherd had a 9-3 lead at halftime.
Lock Haven open the third quarter with goals from Emma Schiemer and Katrinak to cut the lead to 9-5. Shepherd closed the game on a 3-2 run with King netting two during the run.
Senior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded 13 saves for the Rams. Dana Mirigiliano posted seven saves for the Bald Eagles.
Shots were even at 25-all, while Lock Haven had a 20-19 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams were 17-of-20 in clears. The Bald Eagles had a 15-8 edge in draw controls while Shepherd had a 21-16 advantage in ground balls.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Chestnut Hill for a 1 p.m. contest.
