Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Handles Chestnut Hill

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) had four goals and two assists, while junior midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) added three goals and an assist to lead Shepherd University (3-2) to a 20-2 win over Chestnut Hill (1-2) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Saturday. 

Freshman attacker Madison Peacher (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) added two goals and a pair of assists, while junior midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) tallied two goals and an assist. Senior midfielder Molly McCook (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) and sophomore midfielder Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) each added a pair of goals. 

Junior attacker Shanna Dextradeur (Middletown, Md./Middletown) had a goal and a game-high four assists. Freshman attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century), freshman attacker Rebekah Forney (Walkersville, Md./Mount De Sales), and junior attacker Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep) each had a goal and an assist. Senior midfielder Valerie Haney (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) added a goal. 

Torrin Kelley and Frances Vassallo each netted a goal for the Griffins. 

Shepherd had a 12-1 advantage at halftime. 

Senior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) (3) and freshman goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) (1) teamed to record four saves for the Rams. Mel Almador posted 15 saves for the Griffins. 

Shepherd had a 53-7 advantage in shots with a 35-6 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 6-of-7 in clears while Chestnut Hill was 12-of-22. Shepherd had a 17-8 edge in draw controls and a 31-11 advantage in ground balls. 

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Kutztown for a 4 p.m. contest.
