Shepherd Softball Adds Two More Wins

LEESBURG, Fla. -- Shepherd University (13-3) gained a pair of wins in five innings in softball action at The Spring Games on Tuesday. The Rams earned a 10-0 win in the early game against Salem (6-6) and added an 8-0 triumph over Bentley (7-5) in the later contest. Shepherd ran its win streak to 12 games. 

Shepherd scored two runs in the first against Salem on a two-run single by senior catcher Alex Mantz (Edinburg, Va./Central). 

The Rams plated five runs in the fourth with a two-run double by junior second baseman Caitlin Donnelly (Newark, Del./Padua Academy) and a two-run single by Mantz keying the rally. 

Shepherd added three runs in the fifth with a two-run double by sophomore infielder Lexi Clatterbuck (Front Royal, Va./Skyline) keying the scoring. 

Senior designated player Cameron Davis (Ayden, N.C./South Central/UNC Pembroke), Mantz, and Donnelly each had a pair of hits for the Rams. 

Freshman pitcher Abby McBride (Northeast, Md./Rising Sun) (5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 K, 0 BB) (3-1) gained the win. Meesha Arroyo (3.1 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 0 K, 3 BB) (3-1) took the loss. 

Shepherd took a 4-0 lead in the first in the Bentley game with a three-run double off the bat of Davis sparking the rally. 

The Rams added four more runs in the third. Senior outfielder Hannah Beeler (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim), freshman utility player Lauren Moore (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora), and Donnelly each drove in a run.        

Beeler went 2-for-2 to lead the Rams. 

Senior pitcher Katie Laing (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) (5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 K, 1 BB) (4-2) earned the win for the Rams. Taylor O'Brien (1.2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 K, 1 BB) (1-3) took the loss for Bentley. 

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they face Felician at 9 a.m. and Le Moyne at 11:30 a.m.
