SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion), junior attacker Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep), and freshman attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century) each scored four goals to lead Shepherd University (5-4, 1-2 PSAC East ) to a 16-6 win over Shippensburg (1-6, 0-3 PSAC East) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Tuesday.
Lassahn added a pair of assists, while Edwards and Poe each had one.
Junior attacker Shanna Dextradeur (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and freshman attacker Rebekah Forney (Walkersville, Md./Mount De Sales) each had added a goal and an assist.
Sophomore attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) and senior midfielder Molly McCook (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) both contributed a goal. Junior midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) had two assists, while sophomore midfielder Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) added another. Stoner also posted eight draw controls and five ground balls.
Sara Vosburg had one goal and two assists for the Raiders. Abby Seasock added a goal and an assist.
Shepherd had a 7-4 lead at halftime.
Senior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded five saves for the Rams. Kayla Vosburg posted 10 saves for the Raiders.
Shepherd had a 34-12 advantage in shots with a 26-11 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 12-of-14 in clears, while Shippensburg was 13-of-21. The Rams had a 15-10 edge in draw control and a 22-16 advantage in ground balls.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a noon contest.
