SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University (16-8, 1-5 PSAC East) split a doubleheader with Bloomsburg (8-14, 3-1 PSAC East) in PSAC East softball action at Shepherd on Sunday. Bloomsburg gained a 3-2 win in nine innings in game one, while Shepherd grabbed a 2-1 triumph in the nightcap. Graduate student third baseman Nicole Purtell (Centreville, Va./Centreville) scored the game-winning run in the nightcap for her 158th career run to break the old Shepherd mark of 157 set by Alexandra Witt (2014-17). 
Shepherd took a 2-0 lead in the third inning in the nightcap as junior outfielder Isabella Forte (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) led off with a double and scored on a single by Purtell. Purtell went to second on the throw and moved to third on a ground out by senior outfielder Kylie Condon (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington). Purtell scored on a double off the bat of senior outfielder Hannah Beeler (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim). 
Bloomsburg scored its run in the fourth on an RBI-single by Emma Little. 
Purtell went 2-for-3 to lead the Rams. 
Kayleigh Lenner went 3-for-4 for the Huskies. 
Senior pitcher Katie Laing (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) (7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 K, 1 BB) (6-3) gained the win for the Rams. Taylor Welsh (2.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 K, 0 BB) (0-3) took the loss.  
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead in the first inning in game one on a solo blast by Condon. 
Bloomsburg tied the game in the third on a sacrifice fly by Bella Culp. 
The Huskies took a 2-1 lead in the seventh as Gianna Gombeda led off with a double and was replaced pinch runner Mary Stork. Stork moved to third on a single by Alex Iseminger and scored when Taylor Kranzley grounded into a double play. 
Shepherd tied the game in the bottom of the seventh as Beeler led off with a double and moved to third on a sacrifice by freshman first baseman Lauren Moore (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora). Beeler scored on a bunt single by senior first baseman Cameron Davis (Ayden, N.C./South Central/UNC Pembroke). 
The Huskies won the game in the ninth on an RBI-single by Culp. 
Culp went 2-for-3 to lead Bloomsburg. 
Callie Sowers (9.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 11 K, 2 BB) (6-6) picked up the win for Bloomsburg. Freshman pitcher Abby McBride (Northeast, Md./Rising Sun) (9.0 IP, 12 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 K, 0 BB) (4-3) took the loss for the Rams. 
The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Shippensburg for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
